Can anyone spare an atlas for the BBC?

I really like the BBC weather forecast as it offers a forecast for many smaller towns abroad that many international weather forecast homepages just don’t offer.

If you look for some city or town the BBC has it covered and not only has an auto-complete drop down menu that completes the city/town but also adds the state or administrative region the city/town is in, so if you look for Berlin  the drop down looks like this:

auto-complete drop down for Berlin, Germany

auto-complete drop down for Berlin, Germany

Something hotter than Berlin maybe?

auto-complete drop down Riyadh, Saudi-Arabia

If you’re looking for the capital of Fiji, the BBC surely can help:

Auto-complete drop down Suva, Fiji

Auto-complete drop down Suva, Fiji

Now what if you want to know what the weather is like in Jerusalem, let’s take a look:

auto-complete dorp down for Jerusalem, which seemingly is located nowhere

auto-complete drop down for Jerusalem, which seemingly is located nowhere

Note that Jerusalem does not belong to anywhere, it is seemingly not located in any territory. It’s not even like Hong Kong which is (correctly) located in Hong Kong, Hong Kong:

auto-complete drop down for Hong Kong, Hong Kong

auto-complete drop down for Hong Kong, Hong Kong

I wonder what it looks like for other cities that are relatively close to Jerusalem….

auto-complete drop down for Tel Aviv, Israel

auto-complete drop down for Tel Aviv, Israel

But there are at least other cities the BBC just doesn’t know where to locate those correctly:

auto-complete drop down Gaza

auto-complete drop down Gaza

Does anyone here have an old atlas which he or she could donate to the BBC?

  1. Michael says:

I have one, from 1920, with the map of the Franco-British Boundary Agreement, which includes the Golan Heights, everything south of the Litani river and all of the East Bank of the Jordan river as part of the Jewish homeland. Ratified by the international community through the League of Nations.

    • 1920? Naw, I don’t think that this is going to do them any good. Imaginge they use that atlas and then you wish to see the weather forecast for Mumbai, India or any city that is in Burkina Faso.

(On a more serious note & for potential readers who are on the look out to take offence: Jordan is also a sovereign nation. I also support Jordan’s independance as a state. Just like I support Israel’s independence)
