It is quite warm here and the last thing I wanted to do is to occupy myself with the amount of hot air vented by Madrid’s (orthodox) chief rabbi Moshe Bendahan but Mr Bendahan had the foresight of warning the world of what would happen if marriage equality was going to be introduced. The rabbi kept it quite vague and only referred to the “monstrosity” that would occur once marriage equality is introduced.
I am very surprised given the fact that Spain had introduced marriage equality a couple of years ago and European civilisation as we know it has not yet come to an end – despite the existence of marriage equality in some countries. Neither have we seen an increase in earthquakes or any other natural disasters.
I don’t know whether I should take it as a compliment that at least the rabbi could refrain from accusing gay people of poisoning wells or abducting children for horrible rituals. – No, hang on! That was another group who was traditionally (and wrongly) accused of that.
