stinkbombs vs equality

The gay pride parade has taken place in Jerusalem, one of Israel’s most conservative & pious cities, which just magically attracted counter protestors.

Why would haredim (ultra-orthodox Jews) who according to their self-description dedicate their lives to studying the Tora (to an extend that they can’t even afford to join the army like everyone else) have the time to throw stink bombs and dress up as animals & verbally harass parade participants? – Okay, maybe sometimes you just have to get the priorities right: studying the Tora (the self-proclaimed sole content of a frum life) is not as important as demonstrating against a parade for basic civil rights but studying the Tora conveniently is more important than joining the armed forces.

Though I am still wondering where do homophobes get their inspirations for the animal comparisons from? Especially since the two haredi-women in a donkey & monkey dress were not the first to make an animal comparisons?

Though it occurred to me whether those two ultra-orthodox women have just misunderstood the term “cross-dressing”….

(The advocate has put up some photos of Jerusalem’s pride parade if any of you are interested)
