of gays and mice

The homophobes have been very vocal in the very recent past. So here’s another tribute to them.

Maybe I should give the punchline straight away as there is a twist in the usual story line: this time it is not gays that inflict suffering on their fellow human beings (which normally is the case) but it is God this time who inflicts suffering or misfortune on people who support gay rights.

Because a leading British supermarket chain had sponsored the London Gay Pride in 2012 God sent vermin into one of their stores in London. He did so by manipulating store staff into no longer being able to uphold basic hygiene rules.

Now let’s look at a nation whose citizens mostly put their faith in God and who certainly do not support gay rights and even tolerate gay people. – I am of course talking about Uganda,  a nation that by now is internationally renown for its strong hold religious beliefs and its homophobia, and which according to WHO and FAO did not even have a food safety system a couple of years back and whose residents suffered (and died) from diseases like Cholera and Dysentery and where as of 2011 food manufacturers still needed to be reminded to observe hygiene rules. A country where customers can’t even find a best-before date on pre-packed food.

Maybe, according to Christian Voices, none of these shortcomings of the Ugandan food safety need to worry locals because they are mostly devoutly homophobic Christians who wouldn’t even come close to being suspected of supporting gays or their basic human rights. I don’t know.

But I know that the application of scientific knowledge has put a stop to many dangerous food-borne illnesses in the developed world (to an extent that some westerners no longer even know that those diseases existed) and what may be additionally of interest to Christian Voice is that we have the National Health Service (NHS) in Britain. The NHS employs people called doctors who have a professional interest in listening to people who feel that gay people, their rights or support for their rights has something to do with declining food safety.

This tirade by (the well-fed people of) Christian Voice is not only an offence to gay people and their friends, families & supporters but also a spit in the face of those people (gay or straight) who suffer malnutrition or food-borne diseases.

I am hoping that Christian Voice has the decency and is not going to try to blame the school meal poisoning in Bihar, India on the local population’s mostly Hindu beliefs.
