Transpennine Express rides again

Has anyone here taken a Transpennine Express train? I have to say that their service is normally good and reliable and on time and their staff friendly & polite. But, here comes a but, their announcements, apart from the obvious ones like the announcement for the next stop, occasionally go a bit odd.

The one I considered odd while I was on a very busy (read: very crowded) train was “Passengers are reminded not to store luggage and other items on the seats. This is to make seats available to other passengers as this is a very busy commuter train. Transpennine Express apologizes for the inconvenience caused.”

Is there anyone who puts luggage or considers putting luggage on seats while the carriage is stuffed with people standing because of a shortage of seats?

On another Transpennine Express Commuter Service which was overcrowded as well: “Transpennine Express would like to apologise for the lack of passenger seats on the service this morning. This is due to the number of passengers

Excellent. So now we know.
